Currently, Josefa Martinez serves as a consultant on various projects. In 2004, as Meeting
Planner she provided technical support for the planning of the Housing Assistance Council (HAC) bi-annual Conference and Native American
Training. In addition she also provided vendor management and onsite logistical support for conferences held by the American
Bankers Association.
In 2003, she
contributed to the success of the 3rd Annual ACR Conference in Orlando, FL where she served as Conference Manager. Josefa
worked closely with committees, vendors and hotel staff to make the conference a success.
In June 2002, Josefa organized the 11th Annual Institute for Early Childhood
Professional Development Conference in Albuquerque New Mexico. She served as point person for many aspects of the conference
including presenter relations, hotel and convention center management, and scheduling of sessions. She also handled post-conference
follow-up including surveys and evaluation.
In 2000, she was
involved with the 3rd Annual Hispanic Consumer Expo. Josefa was instrumental in signing a major sponsor as a Vecino partner.
From 1997 to 2001, Josefa Martinez served as Program Associate of the District
of Columbia City Initiatives Department at the Fannie Mae Foundation. In this capacity, Josefa led the WAVE Program and served
on various committees. She also organized events including fundraising activities
and community service projects. Josefa is trained and has experience in recruiting volunteers, managing corporate volunteer
programs and developing strategies for outcomes.
She is a graduate
of American University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Humanities and
a minor in Justice. She also holds a Business Certificate in Event Management from George Washington
University. The George Washington University is recognized
as a global leader in Event Management education. In July of 2004, she earned here Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) designation
form the Convention Industry Council.
Josefa's professional memberships include the
Business Volunteer Council of Washington, DC (2000-2001), George Washington University Event Management Student Society (2000-2002),
American Society of Association Executives (2000-present), International Special Event Society (ISES) (2002-2003), Professional
Convention Managment Association (PCMA) (2003- present) and Women Information Network (WIN) (2002-present).
